Treatment
for Unwanted Hair - Beyond the Laser...
How does IPL remove hair?
Highly controlled flashes of light are selectively absorbed
by hair - filled follicles lying below the surface of
the skin. The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages
or destroys the regrowth potential of the follicle.
All without damaging the surrounding tissue.
What happens during a treatment?
It begins by trimming away the hair above the skin.
You may be asked to wear dark glasses to protect your
eyes from the bright light. Next, a cold gel (similar
to ultrasound gel) may be spread over the treatment
area. The IPL hand-piece is then applied to your skin
and pulses of light begin disabling your unwanted hair.
When the gel is removed, much of the hair is wiped off
with it. The remaining hair in the treated area falls
out over the next week or two.
What does a treatment feel
like?
Each pulse of light feels like a slight sting or pinch,
similar to the snap of a rubber band. No local anesthesia
is required and most people tolerate the treatment well.
Can all hair be treated?
IPL's unique design offers you customised treatment
according to your hair colour, texture and body location.
Any hair with at least some pigment in it (black, brown,
red and even blonde) can be treated effectively.

White hair removal made possible
by IPL technology.
Hair follicle is destroyed by Radio-Frequency current.
Is IPL safe for all skin types?
IPL is the first photoepilation procedure proven to
effectively treat unwanted hair on all skin types, including
dark-skinned individuals such as those of Black, Hispanic
and Asian descent.
Are there any possible side
effects?
Side effects are rare. You may experience some slight
reddening or swelling at the treatment site, but this
is typically goes away within hours. On rare occasions,
some blistering or bruising may occur, but typically
resolves quickly. Also, the skin can become darker or
lighter following treatment, but will generally return
to normal within a few weeks. Limiting sun exposure
before each treatment will minimise the risk of complications.
Following the treatment, you can generally return to
work and resume all regular activities immediately.
What kind of results should
i expect?
IPL technology has been proven to create a permanent
reduction in the number of regrowing hairs following
each treatment in most skin types. The number of treatments
required depends on several factors related to your
specific kind of hair and skin. A customised treatment
program will be designed for you along with an estimate
of how many treatments you may need in order to meet
your expectations.
Imagine not having to shave, tweeze,
wax or go through electrolysis again...
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology offers a gentle,
non-invasive, long lasting solution to unwanted hair
on the face, back, legs, bikini line or any other body
area.
Based on technology used for nearly a decade in the
treatment of port-wine stains and other birthmarks,
IPL photoepilation has been performed safely for many
years, effectively eliminating dozens of hairs with
each pulse.
Why choose ELOS at visiblechanges?
"ELOS" stands for electro optical energy and combines bipolar conducted electric current (RF) and optical light energy (IPL) using two energies instead of one means more effective results for you with low er overall energy output. Laser energy output means a high level of safety and comfort, there are no long term health hazards and both light and electrical energy have been used for decades in medicine, surgery and aesthetics without adversity. ELOS is more effective than standard IPL / lasers because by emitting the optical light pulse and electrical pulse at the same time, the net effect is to force the electrical energy to stream preferentially to the regions of the hair follicle pre-heated by the absorbed light, providing a greater and more focused thermal effect than a single pulse of hight intense light, with less intense light energy there are less burning risks and the synergistic coupling of energies means that each gentle pulse can be delivered for a longer period of time than standard IPL/laser yielding results and leave the surrounding skin free from potentially harmful side effects. Visiblechanges has decided to use ELOS after trialling and using other technology because the wave lengths of light targeting hair follicles has produced a superior and excellent result consistently. Traditional lasers/IPL systems operate on one frequency only and cannot handle differing root depths, skin or hair colours the way ELOS can. ELOS technology was developed by the scientists that developed IPL, a company named LUMENIS in 1992. They are the only company in the world that can really call their system IPL. Over the last few years their have been many "copies" of IPL and like most "copies" they do not perform the same results as the original and unfortunately this has led to consumers not getting the results they were expecting. With this in mind and over 35 imitations on the Australian market, that does not mean that if you go to a clinic advertising "IPL" that you will be getting the real "IPL" results like IPL ELOS is one of the few hair removal technologies in the world with clinical papers from peers to support its claims and is approved by the American FDA to be marketed in the USA, the worlds largest single market for permanent hair reduction.
